Urgent Call for Solidarity with Las 17 in El Salvador on November 3

October 30, 2014

Las17
On 1 April 2014, human rights advocacy organizations presented 17 requests for pardons to the Legislative Assembly in El Salvador, one for each of the 17 Salvadoran women (Las 17) imprisoned on suspicion of having an abortion and convicted in extremely unfair circumstances.

Next Monday on November 3, 2014 women’s human rights defenders will hold an action in front of the Supreme Court of Justice and present new evidence accumulated through the review done by the US trained doctors on the inaccuracies in medical opinions used to unjustly condemn the 17 women and sentence them to 30-40 years of imprisonment.

Join in global solidarity with Las 17 and demand El Salvador government to grant them immediate pardon.

Pay a visit to the embassy of El Salvador in your country or send a solidarity letter with Las 17.
