Fatou Janssen
Fatou has worked with different grass-root NGO’s committed to the promotion of human rights. She earned her degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences from University College Maastricht, and in 2014 received her cum laude LLM Public International and European Law with a specialisation in International Human Rights Law, from Tilburg University. Before joining WGNRR, Fatou worked as a legal fellow for the Tanzania Women Lawyers Association (TAWLA) in Dar es Salaam. Fatou was the Coordinator of the Coalition against Maternal Morbidity and Mortality due to Unsafe Abortion and its Complications (CAMMAC) in Tanzania. As coordinator of CAMMAC, Fatou conducted legal and policy research on Tanzanian laws, regional and international human rights law and mechanisms to advocate for the domestication of the Maputo Protocol, especially Art. 14 into Tanzanian legislation. Fatou is fluent in German, French, English and has a working knowledge of Kiswahili.
