This International Women´s Day Send your “Words of Hope” to Las 17

In honour of International Women’s Day on 8 March 2015, we invite all members, partners, and allies to send us your “Words of Hope” through postcards and letters, which we will forward to the remaining Las 17 and other incarcerated women on 1 April 2015, marking one year since the original requests for their pardon.

Beijing+20 Youth Statement on SRHR and Gender Equality Sri Lanka 2015

*Following the Asia Pacific Beijing +20 review, Sri Lanka had the first ever Beijing+20 Youth Review on SRHR and Gender Equality in preparation for the 59th CSW. 27 Young people from 18 different CSOs, youth networks and Government bodies were a part of the youth review and the Advocacy in Practice training on the 6th and 7th of February 2015. The youth recommendations were then made into a statement and was reviewed by an experts panel including youth advocates. The statement was also presented to the minister of Women’s Affairs Sri Lanka and to the Chairperson of the National Committee on Women who are the National delegates to the 59th CSW.

WGNRR celebrates the pardon approval for Guadalupe!

WGNRR welcomes with great joy the pardon issued by the Salvadoran Congress for “Guadalupe,” one of the 17 women wrongfully imprisoned for homicide after suffering pregnancy-related complications. The pardon was approved by Congress with 43 votes in favour after both the Human Rights Congressional Committee and Supreme Court Committee resubmitted their recommendation for her release.
