Are you passionate about advancing sexual and reproductive health rights and justice (SRHRJ)? The Women’s Global Network for Reproductive Rights (WGNRR) is seeking a dedicated Board Member / Secretary based in the Philippines to join our Board of Trustees.
As Secretary, you will serve as a full member of the Board and contribute to the strategic direction, governance, and oversight of WGNRR. In addition to the collective responsibilities of Board members, you will help ensure strong governance practices by maintaining board records, overseeing meeting documentation, monitoring action points, and supporting compliance with governance procedures.
If you are a feminist and activist with expertise in areas such as safe abortion care, SRHR advocacy, communications, policy, governance, fundraising, or representing marginalized communities, we invite you to contribute your skills, experience, and vision to our dynamic and inclusive leadership team.
Please note that this is a voluntary and unpaid position.
About WGNRR
WGNRR is a Southern-based global network that builds and strengthens movements for sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice. Our work is grounded in the realities of those who most lack economic, social, and political power. Through critical analysis and strategic action, we connect members and allies, build knowledge, organize campaigns, and share resources.
WGNRR works to realize the full sexual and reproductive health and rights of all people, with a particular focus on those who are most marginalized. We believe that achieving this goal requires transformative social change.

About the Board
WGNRR is governed by an independent Board of Trustees consisting of five members currently. The Board reflects diversity and inclusion across geographies, experiences, and perspectives.
Board members provide strategic guidance and oversight to the Executive Director and ensure that WGNRR remains aligned with its mission, values, and objectives.
Tenure
Board members are elected for a three-year term and may be eligible for a second three-year term based on performance and feedback from staff. Former Board members who have completed two terms may only be nominated again under exceptional circumstances.
Core Responsibilities of the Board
As the highest governance body of WGNRR, the Board is collectively responsible for:
- Ensuring the integrity of the organization and advancing its mission, mandate, and values.
- Safeguarding the organization’s financial sustainability, soundness, and integrity.
- Ensuring effective leadership and management of the organization.
- Strengthening the Board’s own effectiveness and governance capacity.
- Promoting WGNRR’s work, credibility, and visibility with key stakeholders and constituencies.
In addition, Board members:
- Advance the mission, values, strategies, goals, priorities, and policies of the Network.
- Support and advise the Executive Director.
- Inform the Executive Director of opportunities, events, partnerships, and memberships that may strengthen the Network.
- Represent WGNRR at external meetings, events, and stakeholder engagements when required.
- Review and approve significant operational policy changes affecting staff.
- Promote WGNRR globally and contribute to strengthening its profile and influence.
- Stay informed about the political, social, economic, and legal environments in which WGNRR operates.
- Uphold WGNRR’s feminist principles, values, and commitments.
The Board meets virtually approximately every one to two months.
Additional Responsibilities of the Secretary
The Secretary serves as a full voting member of the Board and shares collective responsibility for all Board decisions. In addition, the Secretary will:
- Work with the Chair and Executive Director to prepare Board meeting agendas.
- Ensure minutes and records of Board meetings are accurately maintained and approved.
- Maintain official Board records and governance documentation.
- Monitor follow-up on Board decisions and agreed actions.
- Support compliance with WGNRR’s statutes, policies, and governance requirements.
- Help facilitate effective communication and information-sharing among Board members.
- Support transparency, accountability, and good governance practices across the organization.
Location
We are actively seeking feminists and activists based in the Philippines.
