WGNRR denounces President Donald Trump’s decision to reinstate the Mexico City Policy

We at WGNRR denounce President Donald Trump’s decision to reinstate the Mexico City Policy (Global Gag Rule). By restricting women and girls’ ability to access safe and legal abortion services across the Global South, this policy will only endanger the health and lives of millions of individuals worldwide, while also resulting in a violation of their human rights to information, bodily integrity, and autonomy in reproductive decision-making, among others.

History has shown us time and again that restricting access to abortion doesn’t reduce the number of abortions—rather, it only forces individuals to seek out clandestine and unsafe options (learn more here). We at WGNRR stand with our members and partners in the U.S. and around the world in challenging this deplorable rollback on women and girls’ SRHR.
